Throughout the course of AS Media I was introduced to many different aspects of digital technology. I developed many skills throughout the duration of the year...
In starting the course we created a blog on a website called blogger. This blog would be the foundation and archive of our entire projects research and planning. As Blogger is an incredibly interactive site I could embed a range of web tools that enabled me to present my work in an memorable and exciting format. Also with blogger being a social media site, my teacher could and peers can comment on my work, offering feedback and suggestions.
Some of the webtools I used included Prezi, Emaze, Powtoon etc... I found that in using these tools, I could create interactive ways of presenting my work. Social Media sites I used include Twitter, YouTube and Facebook. Twitter and Facebook I often used for marketing purposes, sharing my work and Ideas to receive feedback from real life audiences, these sites also enabled me to read comments on similar works. This allowed me to see what people looked for in thriller films and applying this feedback to my own thriller development. YouTube was particularly useful for posting my film projects and having them accessible to a global audience.
In physically creating my productions I learnt a lot about physical technology and editing technology. The preliminary task we show was filmed on a Canon Legria which is a handheld cam-recorder, whilst this cam-recorder was efficient, It was quite basic as you couldnt explore depth of field etc... However I further got to develop my camera work skills when using the much more detailed Canon 700D. With this camera I could also attach a RODE Microphone which is another piece of digital technology I explored during the AS course.
Following the filming we used a software called Adobe Premier Pro for our editing. In using this software I learnt how to trim, collate, change speed etc... of clips. Our project made use of fading, contrast change and also intricate Audio layering. Taking news footage audio, changing its levels to a more suitable, clearer sound and then finally combining and syncing it with our film footage. This process took quite a while and was incredibly detailed however all of the skills I learnt quickly and efficiently.
