Audit of AS Skills - Creativity

Pre Production

Regarding creativity I felt that I had a very creative input in the process of developing the film. After a peer had come up with a fantastic logline regarding my plot idea I began to look for ways to create an OTS that was beyond a typical thriller movie. I came up with the idea of using a real life story concerning the horrific events of Jeffrey Dahmer. In doing so we could use documentaries, news articles and more to create a really intense, realistic OTS.

A lot of my creativity was brought to life in the planning, editing and filming. I took on the directors role when shooting for our OTS. Frequently reviewing footage and putting my imagination to reality. I had a very clear, creative vision alongside my peer who worked closely with me in having accurate camerawork.

During post production I had many ideas spiralling around however I wanted to create a genuine, realistic piece, so I thought there would be no better way than to include real footage and audio. This added to the dramatic intensity of our OTS and I feel is what really completed the film, making it utterly chilling. Many of our shots included close ups which developed a mystery element. Also our titles appeared almost in a pulsating way, fading in and out in time with the jolts of the music, I thought this would work in almost a heartbeat effect.
